This information I am sure will help those of us in the profession who deal with clients grieving and suffering with the loss of a beloved pet. I think this book will be especially beneficial for those new to the profession. Having to humanely euthanize pets can take its toll on our mental health, so having a greater understanding will help ourselves and ultimately our clients. Thanks for the blog post.

I have struggled with this as well. Even trying to befriend some of the doctors has almost gotten me into trouble. I try to stay friendly with everyone but only have a few 3 or 4 out of 30 that I consider friends. I have though had to cut a good friend off when our friendship got in the way of her respecting me in front of others. So while yes I believe you should always be friendly, I agree with Abby that it is best to find friendships and such outside of the work place. It will save you from the hurt feelings of a broken friendship when you still have to work with the individual, and the possible lack of respect from other staff members. I'm very glad to have found this site. Looking forward to learning and growing.
